Radio Club Says Howdy to the World

The Annual Oak Hill Amateur Radio Club Summer Field Day 2023!

We loved having these guys at Ranch 3232 for this annual event—and it’s always great to host events at our site. They seemed way too entertaining to be radio operators, but based on their gear they’re the real deal with official licenses, call signs, and likely their own satellite.

Tune in Tokyo … Ok, well, it was actually New Zealand on 40 watts. They successfully reached 298 Total Contacts via some mystery bandwidth navigating the channels, scanners, amplifiers, ions, and airwaves on some mystery frequency. We aren’t radio savvy and technically proficient enough to do them justice. What we do know is that they connected with every state in the union with the exception of Alaska. Plus Puerto Rico and half of Canada! Maybe even Elon Musk’s Mars station. They had an impressive mobile antenna that towered over our cabin studios. Good work, guys!

Thanks and a shout out to Ray, Mike, Micah, Steve, and the whole N5OAK Oak Hill Amateur Radio Club gang!
