Inside a Skoolie, an Upwardly Mobile Tiny House

At the 2017 Tiny House & Simple Living Jamboree in Arlington, Texas, over the October 27-29 weekend, we toured literally dozens of moveable tiny houses and tiny cabins. But none of these diminutive dwellings are as mobile as the Skoolie genre, a holistic tiny house conversion built on a retired school bus.

Powered by their original diesel engines, these retrofitted vehicles are designed for the open road rather than resting in your back yard, and can offer living and sleeping areas, kitchens, baths, laundrys, and even roof decks and solar arrays. Natural daylighting and cross-ventilation features are a given with a Skoolie, as they retain most if not all of their original sliding windows.

In our photo gallery here of a Skoolie conversion from Skoolie Homes by Custom Bus Conversions, LLC, you can get a feel for what these highly-customizable mobile conversions can offer.
